ALOHA kākou! As we continue through Eastertide, moving from the joy of resurrection toward the Spirit’s unfolding presence in the world, we come to the Sixth Sunday of Easter, and we’ll also celebrate Mother’s Day together. This Sunday’s sermon, “Closer Than We Think,” draws on Acts 17:22–31 and John 14:15–21, in which Paul speaks to seekers in Athens and Jesus promises the abiding presence of the Spirit. In a time that can feel uncertain and unsettled, these readings invite us to look again for a God who is not far away, but already near, deeply present in our lives, our relationships, and even in the ordinary moments we might otherwise miss. Please join us Sunday at 9 a.m. in the Chapel, or on Facebook Live! LAST WEEK we welcomed Bishop Bob and Bea Fitzpatrick to St. Timothy’s. Bishop Bob made his final official visitation and we celebrated his nearly 20 years of service as our bishop with a festive fellowship time complete with cake. Bishop Bob also prayed a prayer of dedication on our new piano, made possibly by a donation from Dr. Ernie and Carol Takafuji. We also prayed for Bea and Bishop Bob on their 44 th wedding anniversary! Please pray for the as they prepare for their new chapter in life, and pray for our special Diocesan Convention on May 16 to elect our new bishop. THIS SUNDAY after worship we will have a fabulous Mother’s Day Pancake Buffet during our fellowship time in Sumida Hall! We’ll honor all our mothers as well as all who provide motherly love to those who need it. Mahalo to Brandon Casey and his fellow cooks for putting this festive occasion together. Come and join in the fun! RETURNING MAY 17: “CONFIRMING FAITH” ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS! Our special Sunday morning series continues May 17 for anyone interested in understanding more about the Christian faith, and especially those who wish to be confirmed or received in The Episcopal Church. Our next topic is Jesus’s Death and Resurrection. Join us for some helpful conversation! Beloved brothers and sisters, I hold you in my prayers in this most glorious season of Eastertide. I ask your faithful prayers for St. Timothy’s Church, for those who lead and serve, for every member of our ‘ohana, and for your vicar. May the blessing of Almighty God be upon you and remain with you always.
Aloha Ke Akua! Rev. Pete+
