Aloha! I’m so grateful to be back home at St. Timothy’s! After an amazing vacation during which we cruised around the four main islands of Japan (with a stop at Busan, South Korea), Dan and I are back home with lots of wonderful memories and way too many photos. I have really missed you, and I’m so grateful that Rev. Karen Swanson was able to preach and preside at the two services I missed. Mahalo, Rev. Karen! I was back in the office on Wednesday and, as you can imagine, I have a lot of catching up to do! This Sunday, June 1, our keiki and youth will be leading our service for Ascension Sunday! Our Sunday School teachers, along with Nancy Chun, Rev. Karen, and I, have planned a wonderful service with our kids reading the lessons, leading the prayers, and assisting in various ways during the service. Most of the hymns will be some of their favorites. Shannon Casey, who serves on our Bishop’s Committee, will be preaching, and I’ll be presiding. We will also be honoring our graduates at any level with a commissioning prayer and a cake during fellowship. So come be part of this memorable and fun event and support our children. We are so grateful for our keiki and their leaders! Then Sunday, June 8, is the Day of Pentecost, the birthday of the church, commemorating the day the Holy Spirit descended on the believers in Jerusalem (Acts 2). This is always a lively and meaningful worship service. And on June 15 we will celebrate the Trinity—God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—and Father’s Day! Be watching for more details about how we’ll honor our dads. Dear sisters and brothers, you are in my prayers, and I ask for your prayers for St. Timothy’s Church, for our dedicated staff and our devoted lay leaders and ministers, and for your vicar. May God bless you and your loved ones during this most glorious and joyful season of our faith.
Aloha Ke Akua! Fr. Pete+
