What Is the Church’s Job Description?

ALOHA kākou! Just wondering: have you ever tried to write out everything you actually do in a given week? It can be a little eye-opening. What seems simple at first quickly becomes a long, complicated list. And often, you realize you’ve just been doing the work without thinking much about how to describe it. This Sunday, we’ll take a look at something similar, but on a much bigger scale: the “job description” of the Church.
In Acts 2:42-47, we get a glimpse of the very first Christian community as it begins to take shape after Pentecost. What did they actually do? What did they devote themselves to? And what might that say about who we at St. Timothy’s are called to be today? As we continue in the joy of the Easter season, this passage invites us to reflect on the life we share together, and how, even now, God is at work among us. Please join us Sunday at 9 a.m. in the Chapel, or on Facebook Live!
LAST SUNDAY, with the disciples who walked the road home with the risen Jesus unawares, we explored how and where the risen Christ becomes known to us still, often in ways we might not expect. How has he appeared to you in your “walk to Emmaus” this week?

THIS SATURDAY: The Bishop Candidates’ Meet and Greet at St. Timothy’s! If you have registered for this gathering to meet the three candidates, please plan to join us at 10 in the Chapel, followed by a light lunch reception in Sumida Hall. (If you haven’t registered, there should still be room for you!)
CONTINUING THIS SUNDAY: “CONFIRMING FAITH” ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS: Our special series continues for anyone interested in understanding more about the Christian faith, and especially those who wish to be confirmed or received in The Episcopal Church. We’ll meet this Sunday and then skip the next two Sundays (when Bishop Bob is here on May 3, and we celebrate Mother’s Day and the DOK class meets on May 10; we’ll return on May 17). Everyone is welcome! I hope you can join us as we explore the basics of our Christian faith and the sacraments of The Episcopal Church. It’s a great way to refresh and renew your faith during Eastertide.
Beloved brothers and sisters, I hold you in my prayers in this most glorious season of Eastertide. I ask your faithful prayers for St. Timothy’s Church, for those who lead and serve, for every member of our ‘ohana, and for your vicar. May the blessing of Almighty God be upon you and remain with you always.

Aloha Ke Akua!
Rev. Pete+
