For those looking for an easy way to give a little back to St Tim’s, our audio-visual ministry, known as St. Timothy's Episcopal Audio-Visual Team (STEAM), is a low time-commitment way that you can help our congregation with church services and other important events to include weddings, baptisms, and funerals.  We work in the background, perfect if you prefer not to be center stage.  The typical time commitments start 20-30 minutes before services or events to setup and test our systems, and conclude 10-15 minutes after the service, with this time being used to cleanup and secure the equipment.

To join our ministry, there’s no requirement to have a background in sound or video.  If you are comfortable using a cell phone, posting on Facebook, and doing basic electronic trouble shooting like checking for loose plugs and changing batteries, you have all the skills needed to help.  We have a book containing simple checklists to walk you through the setup and cleanup steps.  We will also have an experienced STEAM member work with you the first couple of times until you are comfortable, and we have a text group with all our members always available where you can reach out with any questions or problems.  Most weeks there’s another STEAM team member in church that can also help if needed, and we often work together to make setup and cleanup faster.

Our goal is to have each team member work a service every 4-6 weeks so they remain comfortable and proficient, and to ensure we have enough trained help to reliably support all St. Tim’s events, cover for team members that might be sick, on vacation, or otherwise unavailable.  We also are stretched during Holy Week and the Christmas season, especially since many of our team also help with other ministries. If you are looking for an easy but impactful way to take the next step in participating here at St. Tim’s and are willing to give STEAM a try,

please talk with me after the service to learn more.
